Press Release – New Home for Town of St. Paul Family and Community Support Services

The Town of St. Paul Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is excited to announce plans to move to
a new location.

The move became official with the recent purchase of the building located at 5002 - 51st Ave (formerly the JMD
building), and plans are already underway for the renovation of the new space.

FCSS has been located in the lower level of Town administrative building for the past 5 years. The need for a
new space was driven by many factors. Newcomers to St. Paul have lamented the difficulty of finding FCSS.
Seniors, community members with mobility issues, and families with young children have consistently appealed
for a location that provided more appropriate and accessible access to the programs and services FCSS and Parent
Link provides. “The Town is pleased to be addressing these concerns and supporting these valuable community
programs and services,” proclaimed Mayor Andersen.

In addition to accessibility issues, FCSS program growth has contributed to the demand for new space. “With
increased Provincial funding and expanded programs, Parent Link alone grew from 486 to 764 participants
compared to the same quarter last year,” confirmed Lynn Smid, St. Paul FCSS Director. Other services that have
seen an increase include Meals on Wheels (2,728 meals in 2017), volunteer income tax preparation, senior’s
special needs assistance programs, and counselling support.

The Town looks forward to a grande opening at the new location in the winter of 2017.
